Airsoft Joule FPS Converter
Joule / FPS converter for airsoft replicas: simple, precise calculation
Want to know the real power of your airsoft replica?
With our online Joule/FPS converter, you can instantly calculate the kinetic energy of your 6mm airsoft ball (in joules) from its speed (FPS ? Feet Per Second), or do the opposite to obtain speed from power.
How to use the converter?
- Enter the weight of your ball (in grams), usually 0.20g, 0.25g, 0.28g, etc
- Enter the output speed measured by the chronograph (in FPS)
- The converter will immediately display the power in joules or the corresponding speed
This calculation takes into account standard airsoft parameters and applies to all replica types: AEG, GBB, GBBR, spring sniper, HPA, etc.
Why calculate the power of your replica?
For airsoft replicas, it's very important to know their power before use, to comply with current legal regulations.
- In France, an airsoft replica must not exceed 2 joules to be considered as such
- It is imperative to respect the power limits set by associations on their airsoft fields
- Respecting power limits is a matter of safety for players, to avoid injuries or incidents
- Some upgrades and specific settings require precise adjustment of the airsoft replica's velocity with a predefined ball weight
Best practices not to be underestimated
- Use a reliable measuring tool (Chronograph)
- Make sure the chronograph is set to the correct ball weight
- Use several balls of the same weight to refine results
- Repeat the measurement after each modification to your airsoft replica
