The RunCam HelmetCam 2 is an airsoft camera designed for use with tactical helmets. The aim is simply to film without disturbing the player or multiplying the number of manipulations. Its elongated format is a real plus in the field, remaining unobtrusive and easily placed on a helmet without protruding too far, while limiting the "block" effect often found on other, more compact formats.
On the capture side, the HelmetCam 2 records in Full HD 1920×1080 at up to 60 fps. The result is smoother rendering, and more adaptable editing. Videos are saved in MP4 format, a simple, universal format. Recording is done on a microSD card, with an announced capacity of up to 512 GB (exFAT format), so you can cover a whole day without worrying about storage.
The other real advantage is control and framing. The camera incorporates a 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection (standard 802.11 a/n/ac/ax), coupled with theRunCam App available on iOS and Android. This gives live video feedback to check the angle of the shot, adjust settings, and make sure everything is filmed properly. 5 GHz Wi-Fi is also relevant in busy environments, as it helps maintain a more stable connection than 2.4 GHz. The HelmetCam 2 uses an 18650 Li-ion 3500 mAh (3.7 V) battery offering up to around 8 hours of autonomy at 1080p/60 fps, and both recharging and connectivity are via USB-C.
For installation, RunCam provides several mounting solutions adapted to the helmet: velcro mount, slide rail mount and strap/tube mount, depending on the version. The idea is to provide a stable mounting while enabling the camera to be quickly repositioned to suit the helmet, mask or other preferences. The camera is water and dust resistant, so you can use it without fear.
The HelmetCam 2 is a camera that prioritizes efficiency, consistency and does exactly what you'd expect to capture essential moments during an airsoft game.
